Beach Volleyball Set for Worldwide Growth Through FIVB Strategic Vision 2032
The FIVB has announced significant steps to enhance beach volleyball through its Strategic Vision 2032, with major expansions planned for the Beach Pro Tour (BPT) that will create more opportunities for athletes and build a stronger global ecosystem for the sport.
Expanded Field Sizes for 2025
In 2025, the number of teams in main draws will increase significantly at both Elite and Challenge stops. The Elite category will expand from 16 to 24 teams per gender, while the Challenge category will grow from 24 to 32 teams per gender.
This expansion will see total BPT Elite and Challenge playing opportunities rise from 704 teams in 2024 to a maximum of 992 in 2025 – a 41 percent increase that will help ensure greater competitiveness and talent development.
Record Prize Money
FIVB investment will see total prize money for beach volleyball competitions in 2025 reach an impressive USD 6.75 million, including World Championships, Elite and Challenge events.
Within the Beach Pro Tour itself, prize money will rise from USD 5 million in 2024 to almost USD 6 million in 2025. This increase ensures competitions can continue to attract elite talent and offer long-term viability for professional beach volleyball careers.
More Events on the Calendar
The FIVB is working closely with event organizers to expand the number of Elite and Challenge level events in the 2025 Beach Pro Tour calendar. This effort aligns with the broader goal of providing opportunities for athletes to gain more ranking points, enhance exposure for athletes and sponsors, and increase access to the sport for emerging and developing nations.
The FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 focuses on empowering all stakeholders to work together to strengthen and expand the global volleyball ecosystem, guided by the motto “Together as One.”
