Olympic Final Rematch Highlights Montreal Semifinals
Canadians Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brazilians Eduarda Duda Lisboa and Ana Patricia Ramos are set to meet for the first time since their historic Paris Olympics gold medal clash.
Semifinals Schedule
- 12:00 local time (16:00 GMT): Brandie and Melissa (Canada) vs. Duda and Ana Patricia (Brazil)
- 13:00 local time (17:00 GMT): Svenja Muller and Cinja Tillmann (Germany) vs. Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova (Latvia)
Olympic Rematch
The teams have entered the same tournament twice since their memorable encounter at the Eiffel Tower but have not crossed paths until now. Since 2023, they have met six times with Duda and Ana Patricia winning five of those encounters.
Canadians Eye Revenge
Fighting to win gold in Montreal for a second straight time after their 2023 triumph, Brandie and Melissa remained undefeated in the tournament. They defeated FIVB World Ranking leaders Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes in straight sets (21-10, 21-19) in the quarterfinals.
This marks the Canadians first Beach Pro Tour semifinal appearance of the 2025 season, following ninth place in Saquarema and fifth-place finishes in Brasilia, Ostrava, and Gstaad.
Olympic Champions Roll On
Duda and Ana Patricia continue their successful return to international competition after nearly four months away. They arrived in Canada with a perfect record of four wins and no sets dropped, handling Austrian sisters Dorina and Ronja Klinger in two sets (21-14, 21-18) in the quarterfinals.
Germans vs Latvians
The other semifinal features another Paris rematch – Tina and Anastasija eliminated the Germans in the Round of 16 last year. However, Muller and Tillmann have historically been more successful, winning four of seven encounters including pool play in Montreal.
The 2024 European champions dominated Brazilians Carol Salgado and Rebecca Cavalcanti 2-0 (21-18, 21-14) in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the Latvians had to play twice on Saturday, defeating Australians Elizabeth Alchin and Georgia Johnson (21-16, 21-17) and Spanish Olympians Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno (23-21, 22-20).
