Trousil and Dzavoronok Take Evandro and Arthur Down to Win Itapema Elite Pool

Tadeas Trousil and Matyas Dzavoronok silenced the home crowd on the second day of matches of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour 1xBet Itapema Elite on Thursday, as the Czechs took down the top team of host country Brazil in pool play.

The Europeans faced Paris Olympians Evandro Goncalves and Arthur Lanci at the Meia Praia Beach with the top spot in Pool A on the line and claimed it with a solid 2-0 (23-21, 21-17) victory.

The only undefeated team in Pool A, Trousil and Dzavoronok advanced directly to the tournament Round of 12 and will have the Friday off in Itapema, while Evandro and Arthur Lanci will play in the Round of 18 on Friday, as well as Italians Enrico Rossi and Marco Viscovich, who also moved forward thanks to a 3-0 (23-25, 21-8, 15-8) victory over English Frederick Bialokoz and Issa Batrane.

The 24-year-old Czechs joined forces this season and had solid success in Beach Pro Tour Futures events, winning gold in Madrid and bronze in Spiez and Prague. The two went to Itapema fresh from their best result in four Elite events played in 2025, a ninth-place finish in Cape Town.

George/Saymon and Andre/Renato Win Their Pools

Despite Evandro and Arthur upset, hosts Brazil still had two teams winning their pools on Thursday. George Wanderley and Saymon Barbosa finished first in Pool C after overcoming the American Crabb brothers Taylor and Trevor in 2-0 (28-26, 21-19). In Pool E, Andre Loyola and Renato Lima secured their third-straight victory in Itapema, beating compatriots Heitor Benito and Vinicius Freitas in the tie-breaker 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 15-7).

The 2024 European champions, Latvians Martins Plavins and Kristians Fokerots emerged as the top team in Pool B after they downed Austrians Alexander Horst and Moritz Pristauz in 2-0 (21-16, 21-14).

Two South American teams claimed the final spots in the Round of 12 – the Chilean Grimalt cousins Marco and Esteban won Pool D with a 2-0 (21-19, 22-20) sweep of French Elouan Chouikh-Barbez and Joadel Gardoque, while the Argentinean Capogrosso brothers Nicolas and Tomas were the top team in Pool F thanks to a 2-1 (13-21, 21-18, 21-15) victory over Brazilians Arthur Mariano and Adrielson dos Santos.
