Carol and Rebecca New World Number One After Itapema
USA Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher enjoyed being the world number one women team for two weeks after their FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship silver, but after skipping the last Elite event on the 2025 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour calendar in Itapema, they had to step down and give up the crown to another team that climbed on top of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking for the first time – Itapema winners Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti of Brazil.
Women World Ranking Updates
Carol and Rebecca collected 1,200 ranking points along with their Itapema Elite gold in Brazil last week and, after dropping their old eighth best result of 760 points from their score, they netted 440 points towards a new total of 8,440, enough to propel them to the top of the World Ranking, 200 points clear of compatriots and former number one Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes. Before Itapema, the two teams shared the second place in the World Ranking, but Thamela and Victoria also medaled in Brazil with bronze and improved their score by a net of 240 points to surpass Nuss and Brasher by 40 points, leaving the Americans in third place.
It is the first time Carol and Rebecca stand together as the world number one team. Just until about nine months ago in March 2025, Carol was in the number one spot together with her previous partner Barbara Seixas. The highest ranking Rebecca has ever reached with her previous partner Agatha Bednarczuk was the second place.
