How They Got Here:
Mol & Sørum Get Olympic Revenge 🇳🇴
The Tokyo 2020 gold medalists avenged their Paris 2024 semifinal loss to Ehlers & Wickler (Germany), defeating them in straight sets (21-19, 21-17) in Friday’s quarterfinals. Earlier, they also dominated the English Bello twins (21-17, 21-17) in pool play.
Now, they prepare to face Cherif & Ahmed, a team they have dominated historically, winning 13 straight matches since 2018. However, their last loss to the Qataris came in Doha, setting up an intriguing showdown.
Cherif & Ahmed Eye Home Glory 🇶🇦
As Pool A winners, the Qatari duo got a direct pass to the semifinals, avoiding the quarterfinals altogether. The last time they beat Mol & Sørum was over six years ago, but with home-court advantage and the energy of the local crowd, they will look to change history.
Boermans & de Groot’s Dominant Path 🇳🇱
The Dutch pair had a stellar performance on Friday, winning both their matches in straight sets:
- Defeated Perusic/Schweiner (Czechia) 2-0 (21-12, 21-10) in pool play
- Defeated Evandro/Lanci (Brazil) 2-0 (21-13, 26-24) in the quarterfinals
They now take on Åhman & Hellvig, whom they have beaten once before—ironically, in Doha—earlier this year at the Elite16 event.

The Paris Olympic champions cruised through Pool B and also received a bye to the semifinals. The Swedish jumpsetters hold a 3-1 head-to-head record over Boermans & de Groot, but they’ll be wary of the Dutch duo’s past success in Doha.
What’s Next?
The winners will advance to the gold medal match, while the losing teams will fight for the bronze medal. With Olympic champions, world-class rivalries, and revenge storylines, Saturday’s matches promise high-intensity action as the season’s top beach volleyball teams chase the ultimate Beach Pro Tour crown.
