Doha 2023 – Nuss and Kloth strike gold!
Taryn Kloth & Kristen Nuss capped off a thrilling conclusion to the 2023 international beach volleyball season by clinching the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Finals title in Doha. It was a repeat victory for USA following the success of Sara Hughes & Kelly Cheng last year. This was Kloth & Nuss’ third gold of the year, after winning the La Paz Challenge and the Uberlandia Elite16.
The silver medal at the Finals was claimed by Germany’s dynamic duo, Cinja Tillmann & Svenja Muller, their third medal to go along with a gold and bronze.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s powerhouse pair, Ana Patricia Ramos & Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda), picked up the bronze at the event. The Number one ranked team in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking, this podium finish further solidifies their impressive track record on the Beach Pro Tour, totaling an impressive 14 podium finishes.
The final unfolded as a tale of two sides, with the Germans unleashing a barrage of five aces, yet finding themselves outmatched by the Americans’ commanding performance. Taryn Kloth dominated the scoring with 17 points, showcasing her prowess with 12 spike kills, three kill blocks, and two aces. Kristen Nuss contributed 13 points, including a crucial ace. In contrast, Svenja Muller led the German charge with 14 points, while Cinja Tillmann chipped in with 12 points.
